Why Blog? Reflection:

After reading this quite lengthy, but informative article I began to think about a lot of different things. Most importantly I thought about how closed minded I was towards the blogging atmosphere. In my past blog post I briefly mention that I know a few bloggers, but nothing underneath the surface. The more that I began analyzing this text the more I began to realize that blogging is not just for the “Famous”, and Public Eye type of people, that have hundreds and thousands of viewers.  Blogging can most definitely be used for us basic folk that have English assignments to complete, or super fascinating information about modern, and trending topics. This article in particular really had a way of broadening my misconception of the blogging world. Looking back as I am doing this assignment I wonder why I didn’t decide to do this sooner. It is such a fresh and exciting way to discover new information about every thing that you could possibly want to know.

When I look back at some of the points that the author made relating to how blogging can improve you ability to write I was hooked. There is nothing worse than having to sit in a classroom all day, then getting sent home to write a lengthy essay about foolishness you probably don’t even understand am I right? I was so hooked on this idea that blogging can improve your writing abilities, because writing has been something that I have never enjoyed and always felt as if I was wasting my time while doing it. But this new concept that Professor Bonnie decided to try out was probably the most genius, and incredible style of learning, writing, and having fun all incorporated into one.

In the classroom we did an activity where we listed pros and cons of blogging. Some of the things that were said by students contained concerns about many individuals seeing their work and it being so public. I completely understand this as I experience that same feelings. I have low confidence is my writing so when I think about the fact that tons of different people will be reviewing my work that stirs up a lot of anxiety inside my head. I try to just tell myself (and you can too), that we are all different, and we all contain various amounts of knowledge in all sorts of categories. If writing isn’t your thing that is not a flaw, its just a part of your knowledge you have to work at a little harder. This whole blogging experience is going to challenge all of us in various ways and it will be incredible to see where we all end up when this finishes.

Happy Blogging Everyone!
